Black Widow was a fantastic addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With Black Widow, Marvel was able to dig into the mysterious past of Natasha Romanoff. We were finally given an in-depth backstory to the Avengers’ first woman. Through past information, we know that Natasha was trained as a Russian spy and a teen assassin; we also know that she was put through The Red Room, which tortured and trained many young women. Throughout this movie, we can understand in detail what happened in The Red Room. In my opinion, Black Widow is the best Marvel movie. I thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of this movie, especially the talk of real problems in society. My favorite part of this movie is how Marvel humanized Natasha; instead of battling an all-powerful alien, she was fighting events of her past.
Black Widow starts by introducing her dysfunctional, planted childhood family. Her family was then relocated, and that’s when Natasha and her “sister,” Yelena, were put into The Red Room program. Eventually, Natasha escapes The Red Room and finds family in the Avengers. We then see adult Natasha reunite with her long-lost “sister,” Yelena. Yelena breaks tragic news to her “sister,” which leads to them seeking out their former “mother” and “father.” They all must work together again to confront a dangerous conspiracy tied to their past.
This movie was my favorite in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and made me fall deeper in love with Marvel. I strongly recommend this movie to anyone who loves marvel, especially young women. This movie has incredible female representation and provides a strong heroine for young women to look up to. I especially love the talk of real problems in society. This movie has a strong female lead and revolves around a found family, has many comedic moments, and has the perfect amount of action and adventure.
