For individual service day, I chose to help a loved one with a chore. My older cousin has been married a year and is eight months pregnant with her baby boy. Today was the day of her anniversary, and I went to her house to help her set up. We helped decorate and organize her baby's nursery. I can't wait to meet her new baby boy on March 21st. This shows the Felician core value of compassion.

This weekend I assisted my mom in baking Christmas cookies. For Christmas Eve, my entire family comes over my house and a lot of cookies are necessary. We made the usual chocolate chip and Italian cookies then we also tried something new and made chocolate peppermint cookies. My little cousin came over to help and made quite a mess. She definitely teaches me about the art of patience. This fun act of service can fall under the category of compassion.
I am currently the acting President of the National Honors Society; we host events, raise money, and, most importantly, help our peers. Some students come to us when they are in need of tutoring; at ICHS and within the NHS, we pride ourselves on our peer tutoring hours. Only, yesterday I aided a student with an essay about Romeo and Juliet, English is my absolute favorite subject, and I was happy to help. The Felician Core Value that I deem most prevalent with tutoring would be transformation; I love using the value of transformation because it shows my intellectual growth from freshman year to now, my senior year. Although transformation is most prevalent, you can also use compassion.
Last night I volunteered at the October ICHS open house; this is something I have done in the past at IC. Not a single open house goes by where I don't feel exhilarated. Last night I assisted the amazing Miss. McAllister by running the school merchandise store. Overall, We sold four pairs of sweatpants, three sweatshirts, three pairs of pajama pants, and one mug. This Opportunity is a show of Transformation; first I attended an open house as a student, then an ambassador, and now as the Recording Secretary and Historian of the Student Ambassador's Executive Board.
On Wednesday, October 5th, ICHS held our annual service day; we had a wonderful day at the Peoples Pantry in Elmwood Park. As a senior class, we all were challenged to come together and serve our community. No matter how big or small a service is, we must remember to include our core values in our everyday life. The Felician mission and core values respect human dignity, compassion, transformation, solidarity with the poor, justice, and peace.
Today we were honored to assist in stocking shelves, organizing food items, and labeling shelves. I mostly helped with labeling shelves and providing photography for the event. The Felician core values were in our hearts and were respected throughout the day; the core values we mainly used for solidarity with the poor, compassion, justice, and peace. Being a part of a surface that helped shape our community was riveting and memorable. This summer, I volunteered for the Nutley Public Library for five weeks. For the library, I was a book and media reviewer; we wrote reviews for their website. The first review I sent was a book called The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han; it was one of my favorite books and perfect for summer. So many people I have recommended it to have loved it; since publication, the book has turned into a trilogy and has been adapted into a unique and heartwarming Amazon Prime TV show. This service entails the core value of Transformation because I am the reader becoming a reviewer, also I am transforming into a responsible woman by taking on this job.
